What is the best product for releasing rigid urethane foam?

Clean the mold thoroughly, and seal surface with Sealer GP. Then release using EnviroShield, if release agent is being applied in production and the mold tools are not allowed to cool down during application of the release. Make sure that the release agent is applied generously to the mold surface; a spray application can be considered for high volume applications.

What is the best product for releasing soft urethane foam?

Clean the mold thoroughly, and seal surface with Sealer GP. Then release using MultiShield if release agent is being applied in production and the mold tools are not allowed to cool down during application of the  release.

What is the best way to seal a highly porous mold?

SealProof, is a very effective, NON-VOC water-based mold sealer, which can be used to seal plaster, urethane, wood and other materials. If multiple coats of SealProof are applied in the correct way, and allowed to dry, the sealed surface of the mold surface can be built up sufficiently to wet sand back to a high gloss finish. Zyvax can offer detailed advice for this situation.

Styrene Build Up.

I have a problem with styrene build up on my mold/tool, they are getting pitted and have a white deposit building up.  What can I do to repair the surface of the mold and prevent the situation from reoccuring?  Basically treat the mold as I described in the previous answer, clean, apply additional sealer and then release.

How many parts can I mold before having to reapply another?

Depends on too many variables to be specific, but some simple guidelines for maximizing the number releases are as follows. 1) The solvent-based products are generally more abrasion resistant when compared with the water-based materials.

I have an old mold, and it is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve a good releases.

Clean the mold thoroughly to remove any oxides, old releases etc. Make sure you seal the mold with additional THIN coats of mold sealer, for composite tools, you can apply up to 6 or more coats. Avoid applying lots of sealer at one time, or the temptation to pour the sealer on the mold and let it dry without wiping off.

What temperature will your release materials withstand?

Rule of thumb is that the solvent-based products are stable to about 900 deg F, the water based materials about 500 degrees F.

Can I decant my solvent-based products into smaller containers?

Yes -BUT The solvent based products are moisture sensitive -so take care-  and follow these guidelines

Can I decant my water-based products into smaller containers?

Yes -make sure the bottle is clean, watertight and will not corrode.
